Provide strategic support using digital and print collateral for a national sodium reduction initiative to lower sodium levels in the American food supply

Palladian Approach

Palladian continues to support DHDSP’s sodium reduction efforts by using digital and print materials to inform and educate people about the negative impact of excess sodium in the food supply. We faced the challenge of communicating the importance of this health issue to a broad audience with little knowledge of sodium and its health effects, amid ongoing public debate about the strength of the scientific evidence.

We also provide biweekly media monitoring for the newsletter Salt in the News and support emerging DHDSP communication needs around sodium reduction, including for the CDC Director.

Results

In support of this initiative, we developed numerous informative, educational, and action-oriented digital and print materials, some of which we created specifically for certain CDC grantees. These grantees used the materials to educate their constituencies, resulting in messages being shared and re-shared across multiple platforms and reaching more and more people.

Many of the materials that we created for this initiative received prestigious awards:

  • Silver Award in Web Health Awards: Infographic, 2013;
  • Platinum Award in Hermes Creative Awards: Publications/Handbook, 2013;
  • Silver Award in the New Product & Technology Awards: Web-Based Resource/Tool, 2011;
  • Honorable Mention in MarCom Creative Awards: Campaign Materials; and
  • Merit Award in the 17th Annual National Health Information Awards: Radio PSA, 2010.
