Client

Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Million Hearts® initiative is co-led by CDC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and is under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Challenge

Plan, conduct, and evaluate strategic outreach activities to maintain and increase momentum of the Million Hearts® initiative, and support DHDSP’s heart disease and stroke prevention programs.

Palladian Approach

Palladian Partners, Inc., supported the launch of Million Hearts® in 2011 and has continued to provide broad strategic communications support for DHDSP and the Million Hearts® initiative. Our work spans multiple CDC heart disease and stroke prevention programs and demonstrates our team’s ability to influence health behaviors through cohesive, evidence-based communication strategies. We have helped CDC and its federal and private partners save lives through innovative and engaging products, materials, and messages.

Our campaign and outreach support has led to new and stronger collaborations and helped solidify Million Hearts® as a national leader in heart disease and stroke prevention. Our achievements include nearly 70,000 Facebook fans and more than 24,000 Twitter followers; interactions with more than 100 health systems, providers, and grantees across the nation; several original animated videos; a successful radio media tour; monthly podcasts; paid advertising campaigns; information architecture and website redesigns; interactive tools and resources; and health provider materials like action guides and treatment protocols.
